
How to Connect LiFePO4 Batteries Correctly
Parallel connection increases capacity and holds voltage; series increases voltage. Finished 51.2V packs are normally paralleled only, unless the model is built for high voltage.

Before paralleling, charge each unit to a similar voltage (within about 0.5V) to avoid a high balancing current at the moment of connection.
Use cables of identical length and cross-section for every unit; unequal lengths share current unevenly and overwork one pack.
Fit a properly rated breaker or fuse on each positive lead or on the bank, and link the BMS to the inverter over CAN or RS485 when supported for coordinated charging.

Common mistakes to avoid
- Comparing amp-hours only and ignoring voltage, ending up with four times less energy than needed
- Discharging lead acid below 50%, which cuts life to less than half
- Picking a bank that does not match the inverter voltage, so charging fails or runs inefficiently
- Thin cable or a long run between bank and inverter, causing voltage drop and lost power
- Mixing new and old packs, or different capacities, on the same bus

Frequently asked questions
Can I parallel different capacities?
Not advisable; the smaller pack works harder and ages faster.
Do I need BMS communication?
